Day 1

KATHMANDU ARRIVAL

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our representative will meet you & transfer to Hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 2

SIGHTSEEING TOUR IN KATHMANDU

Morning breakfast in the hotel and then continue for the sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple and Budhanilkanth Temple, both are biggest holy temple in regards to Lord Shiva & Vishnu respectively. Return hotel from sightseeing by and have lunch in hotel. In the evening our Nepali Guide will brief you of Yatra. Dinner and overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 3

CROSS BORDER & DRIVE TO NYALAM (3750 m.)

Morning, you should be ready to leave at 5.30 a. m. from Kathmandu. Today, we have to cross an extensive distance with immigration formalities both in Nepal and China. We provide packed-breakfast in hotel. The journey from Kathmandu to Kodai (the border town of Nepal) takes about 4 hours. The distance to cross is only 115 km, but it is a mountain highway so it takes long time.

Our border representative will assist us to clear Nepal immigration & customs. You have to walk for 5 minutes to reach Friendship Bridge and stay in queue as per serial number mentioned in your passport. We clear Chinese immigration and custom formalities with the help of our Tibetan guide. And then after, we get in to our transport in Tibet side for our onward journey to Nyalam. After 30 minutes drive we reach in Zhangmu where you have to wait for a while to clear immigration formalities by our guide & driver. It takes another 1 hour to reach Nyalam. On arrival, check into room and take rest for today. Our kitchen crew will serve hot tea or coffee with light snacks within short interval of time after setting their kitchen. Then you can stroll around hotel vicinity or go walk for nearby market. Dinner will be prepare by our cook and serve between 7 to 8 pm (Chinese time). 

Being you are staying in high elevation at 3750m, there might be consequence of uneasy feeling with your health in the first night, so it is suggested to all travelers to drink liquid more as possible that may be in any form of soup, juice, tea, coffee or hot water. This will help you in re-hydration as well as in breathing system.  Dinner and overnight stay at Nyalam.

  • Kathmandu - Kodari by private Bus (120 km /4-5 hrs)
  • Kodari – Nyalam by Jeep / Coach (33 km / 2hrs)

Day 4

FREE DAY IN NYALAM FOR ACCLIMATIZATION

This day is reserve for rest day for the acclimatization with Tibet’s climate. Our tour manager will assist taking you to short hike in and around Nyalam county for warming up your body to adjust with Tibet climate. Also, we enjoy the day with chanting Bhajan or Katha in Guesthous. All meals and overnight stay at Nyalam.

Day 5

DRIVE, NYALAM TO NEW DONGBA (4500 m.)

After breakfast, drive to New Dongba, en route we will be passing through Lablung-La Pass (5100 m) & lake Peiku Tso crossing over the Bridge of River Bramhaputra in Saga. Picnic lunch will be served on the way. Continue the journey to New Drongba for overnight stay. In the evening, our Chinese Doctor will check our passengers and if anyone is seriously suffered with altitude sickness, the patient will be sent back to the border.
Nyalam to New Dongba  (450 km / 10hrs)


Day 6

NEW DONGBA TO LAKE MANASAROVAR

We have very important day today as we are heading to the holiest place at Lake Manasarovar. As per above time schedule, our day begins with breakfast at 7.30 am and leave for another point by 9 am. On the way before Mayumla Pass (4900 m), we take break for permit formalities and for lunch then continue the journey crossing Mayumla pass and Paryang county. You will have very good opportunity to see first glimpse of Mt. Kailash from the shore of Lake Manasarovar. There will be few minutes’ halt before heading to our camp at Lake Manasarovar for the permit formalities, that period you can use with praying Mt. Kailash. After immigration complete, we will drive further to our camp at Chiu Gompa and will stay in Paramartha Guesthouse. Today, you will complete Lake Manasarovar parikrama approx. 70% and rest will be complete when you return from Kailash Trek. You will have very significant moment in Lake Manasarovar with almighty bless and even graceful evening with the breathtaking view of holiest Lake Manasarovar and Mt. Kailash. Besides this, you can also see or visit Chiu Gompa Monastery situated in hillock near Guesthouse. . Overnight stay on the eastern shore of Lake Manasarovar.

New Drongba to Lake Manasarovar: (425 km / 9 hrs)


Day 7

LAKE MANASAROVAR PARIKRAM ON JEEP THEN DRIVE TO DARCHEN (4663 m.)

Today morning, we wake up comfortably and we will find a good place for holy dip in Lake Manasarovar for all our pilgrims. We will also arrange shower tent nearby the bank of lake for change the clothing and also you can arrange your puja / haven at feasible place according to you. Our crew member will assist you if anything help require. After finishing holy bath and puja, and taking lunch, we make short drive to Darchen. On the way to Darchen, we can also see panoramic scenery of Rakshas Tal (Demon’s Lake) in the other side of Lake Mansarovar. Darchen is the major administrative hub of Kailash region with basic development in infrastructure and facility and also considered as the base camp of Mt. Kailash from where the circumambulation around Kailash begins. You can stroll around small market in Darchen in the afternoon or visit Aasthapad (where you can have a spectacular view of Mt. Kailash, Nandi Parvat & Aasthapad together).

  • Lake Mansarovar Parikrama: (55 km / 2 hrs)
  • Lake Mansarovar (Chiugompa) to Darchen: (53kms  / 2 hrs)

Day 8

DRIVE, DARCHEN TO YAMA DWAR THEN START PARIKRAMA TO DIRAPUK (4920 m.)

Today, we wake up early and take breakfast then head to Tarboche. (If the group confirmed for Asthapad darshan, we first make visit Asthapad that takes 45 min drive by Jeep and continue to Tarboche on return). All pilgrims have opportunity to pass through Yama Dwar before trek commence. Also, the members who are not going for parikrama will return from Yama Dwar after very close darshan of Mt. Kailash from this point and get back to Darchen waiting for parikrama group. And other travelers who are going for parikrama will continue trekking ahead through horse or by foot. You will given name coupon to choose the horse & porter if any travelers book for this and the same horse or porter will accompany throughout the trip. And we will manage Yaks & Yak men to carry our camping logistics for Kora.

Today trek is flat and gradual ascend along through the bank of glacier river so it will be easy and reach Diraphuk camp comfortably within 5 hours. We will stopover in mid way for our pack lunch. Our Tibetan guide will help us to book our guesthouse in advance and will check into room immediately as soon you reach there because of chilly weather than we have in earlier camp. Diraphuk is one of the best and closest point from where we can see crystal clear north face of Mt. Kailash standing ahead. You will have great opportunity to take several memorable picture of Kailash from here. The night will be too cold below 0 degree temperature so we will have quick dinner and rest in bed. 
Overnight stay at Dhirapuk.

  • Darchen to Yama Dwar: 18 km (45 minutes drive)
  • Yama dwar to Diraphuk:  (10km / 5 hours walk)


Day 9

CONTINUE PARIKRAMA TO ZUTULPHUK (4760 m.)

Wake up very early morning before dawn, take quick light breakfast and get ready to begin the trek towards Zuthulphuk camp. This day is considered as toughest day. The trek goes steep climb up continuously upto Dolma La high pass (5600 m) for about 4 hours and steep down to Gaurikunda and upto flat valley for about 2.5 hours then after you will walk all the way flat land for about another 2/3 hours. That’s why, it is the tough & longest trek of about 8/9 hours. We should cross the high pass as early as possible in pleasant weather before strong windy at day time. At the top of Dolma La, you can even find the place called Shivasthal that covered with holy flags and the personal related things like clothing, ornaments, for which there is strong belief in Tibetan religion that you will get it (whatever you offered here) in heaven after your death. Travelers should not forget to carry their pack lunch from kitchen before start trekking. After crossing Dolma La, you will see GauriKunda at downhill in the right side of your path. Then further walking down for a while, we will take break for pack lunch. This downhill trail is not easy due to rocky & loose stones so we should walk very carefully. Then after, you will catch soon flat trail that reach to Zuthulphuk. Also please note, the travelers who are in horse ride should also walk for 2 to 3 hours in between trekking while you are coming steep down after Dolma La. 

In Zuthulphuk, we will have guesthouse in hut or in fixed tent with proper bed, bed sheet & warm blanket. Similar as in Diraphuk, we will take dinner at earliest it prepared and go to warm bed.  Overnight stay at Zutulphuk.

Deraphuk Gomba to Zutulphuk Gomba: (22kms / 9 hrs)

Day 10

END PARIKRAMA NEAR DARCHEN AND DRIVE BACK TO DONGPA

This is our last trek day and we have to make short trek about 2.5 hours so we wake up in normal time and begin trekking to descend Darchen town. Our transport will pick up us from the mid way to Darchen, upto where the road is accessible and drive straight towards Hor Chu camp. First, we reach to the point (eastern shore of manasarovar) where we had left our vehicle. We board on the same vehicle and move ahead.
We will traverse through Mayum La pass, military barricade, Paryang country, sand-dunes area then eventually get to old Dzongba in the evening. Picnic lunch will be served somewhere near before or after Mayum La Pass.

  • Zutulphuk to the ending point: (8 kms /3 hrs)
  • Darchen to Dongpa : (350 kms / 10 hrs) 

Day 11

RETURN BACK TO NYALAM

Today is our last journey in Tibetan Plateau. We will return to Nyalam, the last night near border town of Nepal. We will chant and enjoy all the team together in the last evening with wonderful memory. Also, we will keep gratitude program to all staff team members from Nepal and Tibet side for their hard work & devotion to make your trip safe and successful. Overnight stay ay Nyalam.

  • New Dongpa to Nyalam: (400 kms/ 9 hrs)


Day 12

RETURN JOURNEY TO KATHMANDU

After 10 days long trip in high isolated land, we feel more safe and comfortable today once we drive to the border in early morning. Our eyes feel relief to see all lavish greenery surrounding and easy breathing once we across Nepal. As previous way, we will clear immigration and custom formalities in both Tibet & Nepal side and take lunch in border then move to Kathmandu comfortably. We check in hotel at Kathmandu and after long while you have good time to take warm shower to refresh, have very delicious taste of food in dinner and luxury sleep. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 13

RETURN HOME

Today is farewell day to fly back to your home town after wonderful moments with us. According to your flight schedule, our officer will assist you to transfer in the airport to catch your flight.

INFORMATION ON ACCOMMODATION

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra falls probably in the world’s most remote part. Most of the times, you would be away from modern civilization. One must be well equipped and self contained. The group shall overnight in guest house / mud houses / tented camps. For 03 Parikrama days the group will be accommodated in tent house if guest houses are not available. Use of candles inside the tents is strictly prohibited as tents and sleeping bags might catch fire due to any negligence. If your tents / sleeping bags are damaged due to misuse by candles or other incendiary articles, we will expect replacement / reimbursement of the loss from you. Therefore we suggest that you use torch light inside the tents.

Guest houses/Lodges accommodation wherever available will be very simple with a cozy room (dormitory at most of the places) with common toilets. Hot water will be provided in every room only for washing face & drinking purpose by our Sherpa team.

IMPORTANT PRE-DEPARTURE INFORMATION

Clothing:
Casual wears and comfortable walking shoes are recommended to travel to Tibet. Be sure to bring warm clothing as nights and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold. Indian woman Pilgrims strictly advisable no Sari. Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items etc. that you will need from home as these are difficult if not impossible to obtain on the way. A small first aid kit is also a good idea. Also quite useful to have a route map, to know where you are going and have been each day.

What to take:
Winter wear: Gore-Tex material though expensive is highly recommended. Down jacket, raincoat or windbreakers, thermal under wears, Jackets, warm trousers & woolen shirts (cotton will also do), warm sweaters, woolen gloves, sun hat, sun glass, comfortable shoes, light leather boots in case of snow, woolen balaclava ('monkey cap') & scarf/dust mask to protect your eyes & nose from dust.

Bring with you:
Snacks along the way. Chocolates, dry fruit, toffees, glucose; 'namkeen' etc. Strong water bottle & water purifying tablets. Personal medical kit and Diamox tablet (for high altitude). Sun glasses (to protect your eyes from UV, which is especially strong in high altitudes). Sun block or sun screen lotion, wet tissues (Fresh-ones are excellent to wipe off the dust), clothes-line/clips, needle & thread, deo-spray (handy for smelly boots/feet and for a round of spray in the toilet tent!), toilet paper, torch & spare batteries, daypack (small shoulder bag), Camera & films, Binocular.

Health:
This is one of the toughest high altitude road journeys on earth. You Must be physically fit - no two ways about that. Generally patients with asthma & heart problems have a problem acclimatizing to high altitudes. In your interests it is essential you should be examined by your doctor to know about your health condition and your ability to cope up with the rigors of high altitude travel for days in 'no road' conditions, extreme cold, dust, trekking to an altitude of 19500ft during the Parikrama, etc.

Altitude Sickness:
As you are traveling over high terrain, you are likely to experience symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness (headache, loss of appetite, nausea, exhaustion, sleeplessness, breathlessness etc.) until your body adjusts to the elevation. This can take a couple of days or more depending on an individual. For this reason alone, we have made it mandatory to stay 2 nights at Nylam (12000ft) before moving on to the higher altitudes. Drink plenty of water, be calm, and do not exercise. Do not drink alcohol or smoke prior to and during the tour. We also recommend you carry a strip of diamox tablets. Do consult your physician on the dosage. We provide Gamow bag (a special equipment to prevent sickness from high altitude) on this tour.

Currency:
The unit of Chinese currency is Yuan. USD 1 = 6.00 Yuan. 1 Yuan = INR 10.00 approx, Money can exchange at Bank of China at Zhangmu or from the locals at Zhangmu or Kodari. Exchange all your remaining Yuan at the end of the trip at Zhangmu itself before re-entering Nepal.
